This amount, considered significant, is linked in particular to the high price of electric wheelchairs and custom-made models, the demand for which is expected to increase significantly.
However, the proponents of the reform argue that a return on investment (ROI) will materialize in the long term. This argument is based on several hypotheses: better mobility would lead to a reduction in indirect healthcare costs, such as expenses related to hospitalizations due to complications from lack of mobility (bedsores, falls) or home care hours. Furthermore, facilitated access to employment for people with disabilities would increase tax revenues and social contributions, contributing positively to the national economy. These benefits remain projections, and their true extent can only be measured after several years of implementation. The economic debate remains open between the reality of an immediate cost and the promise of a future benefit.
