During my years as a physician in physical and rehabilitation medicine, I often met family caregivers: a daughter looking after her father, a husband supporting his wife, a brother watching over his sister. They carry an enormous burden, often in silence. They manage appointments, worry about falls, check medications, and provide constant vigilance.
What I observed is that many become exhausted. They sleep poorly, live with permanent stress, and constantly doubt whether they are doing enough, or doing things right. They lack tools, backup, and coordination.
It is for them that I decided to change my role. As an autonomy coordinator, my mission is to give them breathing space. Concretely, I build solutions where care assistants take over in an organized and reliable way, where teleassistance acts as a safety net, and where families know there is someone piloting the journey.
